Wednesday November 9th!

Standard

Happy Wednesday Everyone!

This morning they write a story to go along with a picture.

We thought of some sentence started together and everyone wrote a story.

They took a few tests to assess their phonics that we have been working on over the last few weeks.

We read another TFK Magazine about Thanksgiving and completed a worksheet with a partner to talk about what they like to do on Thanksgiving.

We then played a game called SPARKLE to help them study their spelling words.

They had lunch and then Music.

When they come back we will be doing more work with even and odd numbers.

After 2nd recess we will be watching a Brain Pop Jr. on Thanksgiving and then doing a few activities.

We will end the day with 20 minutes of silent reading.

HW: STUDY FOR SPELLING TEST TOMORROW

Tuesday November 8th, 2011

Standard

Good Afternoon Parents!

This morning they had Spanish.

Then they finished a worksheet dealing with compound words.

We then thought of a few story starters, I wrote them on the board, and they made up a story and wrote for about 20 minutes.

We did a review of phonics and tomorrow we will assess their learning.

After lunch they had Jiji, and then we did Centers.

After 2nd recess, we studied our spelling words and wrote them in their planner. We then read another one of our Time For Kids. They are in their binder so you can read it with them tonight too.

At the end of the day we went to the library for a read aloud.

HW: Baggy books and study for Spelling Test on THURSDAY because there is no school Friday. In their HW side, I put a list of things you can do to practice your spelling words. Please let me know how they work for your son/daughter!

Monday November 7th!

Standard

This morning we learned about crocodiles in our morning work. We then worked on sentences and they underlined compound words.

We did phonics and learned about the “or” and “ore” sound. They have a decodable book in their homework side I would like you to read with them tonight.

Brady was Student of the Week. Every student will get picked by their “name stick” throughout the year.

They are at lunch now.

When they return they are going to Library. They should each be able to check out 2 books, so make sure to check their backpacks tonight so you can read with them.

After Library we will be doing math (working more with patterns).

After 2nd Recess we will be reading some Time for Kids Magazines! THEY ARRIVED FRIDAY!

 

HW: Spelling Worksheet and Math Worksheet.

Please look over the patterns with the spelling words. We learned the letter patterns and sounds last week.

Friday November 4th!

Happy Friday Everyone!

This morning we wrote stories and then finished out centers for the week.

We then worked on phonics in the back of the room and learned about the “ch”, and “tch” sounds.

After Lunch they will be going to Art.

When I pick them up we will take our spelling test and then work on math. In math we are working with patterns.

After 2nd recess I will be doing a read aloud and they will do an activity to go with it.

Thursday November 3rd!

Standard

This morning everyone wrote a story about a picture they drew.

We worked on compound words in our morning sentences.

In phonics we worked on the “th” sound and read a decodable book with the “th” sound. Make sure to read it with your son/daughter tonight.

They are now in PE.

They will then go to recess and lunch.

When they come back they will be going to the computer lab for Jiji.

We will be working next in math with adding 3 numbers through number stories.

After second recess we will finish the day with centers.

HW: Read your baggy book 3 more times to help build fluency and vocabulary. Then, you will be filling out a worksheet about what happened in the beginning, middle, and end.

*For those read Stink OR Ivy and Bean. Read the next chapter. Then choose one of your favorite books from home, read it, and fill in the balloon worksheet and write what happens in the beginning, middle, and end of the story.

***Study for Spelling Test tomorrow!!!!!!

Wednesday November 2nd!

Good Morning Everyone!

Today we will learn about amphibians in our morning work.

Our sentences are going to be working with compound words.

In phonics, we will be learning about the “sh” sound and letters.

We will then be reading a decodable book that they will take home and read to you for homework with words that have the “sh” in it.

Next we will be doing Student of the Week and then they have lunch.

After lunch they will go to music and then we will be working with number stories for math.

After 2nd recess we will read a poem together and draw a picture of what they visualized.

We will end the day writing an Acrostic poem with their name.

Tuesday November 1st!

Standard

This morning they had Spanish.

When they came back they wrote a story about a topic of their choice and drew a picture. This piece of writing will be graded with a rubric and returned after the first grade team looks over it. We want to see how their writing is coming along. From what I saw everyone did a great job.

After their writing I read aloud.

After lunch we had Jiji, and then we started our new week of centers.

After 2nd recess, we watched a Brain Pop about the forest. We learned about the Deciduous Forest and the Coniferous Forest. We then used a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast them both.

We ended the day reading a few Dr. Seuss books.

 

HW: Baggy book-read it 3-5 times and write about your favorite part and draw a picture. Those student with Stink or Ivy Bean, predict what will happen in the next chapter, read it, and tell me if your predictions were correct.
